Susan Susskind
Deupree Meals on Wheels Director; former Adult Day Director; Development Partner Elder Abuse Toolkit with International Federation on Ageing

Susan Susskind has devoted the past 15+ years to working in a variety of areas related to the field of eldercare and developmental disabilities. She worked with the International Federation on Ageing, developing a “tool kit” to be used worldwide to educate about elder abuse. She also served as the Director of Development on a volunteer basis for the National Adult Protective Service Association, and as Director of one of Indianapolis’ Active Day Adult Day Centers.  Sue also volunteers her time working with Make a Wish of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. She joined Deupree Meals on Wheels as the Director for their program in January of 2013.

After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati in 1981, Sue went on to complete her Master’s degree in Education from the same institute in 1982.  She worked the early part of her career as a social worker, helping to transform the lives of troubled teenagers who were challenged with severe behavioral problems, developmental disabilities or with mental health issues. She then worked in a management position in the national home office of one of the country’s premier Home Care Companies, which led her to realize her true passion – working with seniors, children and young adults, making sure they do not suffer the indignity of any form of abuse, and helping to wrap services around them so they can remain in the comfort of their own homes.
